Alberta Flye, 87, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Flye had been in declining health since falling on October 26th. Born December 9, 1926 in Christopher, IL, she was the daughter of William and Lillie (White) Burnam. She attended Roosevelt High School and was a former member of the Alton Moose Lodge. She retired as an inspector from the Olin Corporation. On August 10, 1943 she married Robert Lee Flye in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1965. Surviving are three daughters, Reverend Patricia Murrell of Alton, Sherry Warren of Alton and Vicky Venardos of Alton, two sons, Robert Flye of Alton and William Flye of Alton, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Along with her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Reed Flye, seven brothers, William, Francis, Gilbert, Frank, Otis, Highland and Dean Burnam and two sisters, Elizabeth Evans and Lela Burnam Jefferies. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Reverend Patricia Murrell will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
