Alana Corliss O'Neal, 67, died at 12:05 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2012 at her home in Alton. Born May 1, 1945 in Alton, she was the daughter of James H. and Dorothy E. (Groenendal) Trout. She worked as a starter at Wadlow/Muny Golf Course and also for the Alton Parks and Recreation in charge of concessions at Gordon Moore Park. She enjoyed her flowers and liked to read. On May 8, 1965 in Alton, she married Douglas O'Neal. He survives. Also surviving is a son, Jonathan Douglas O'Neal of Alton, and a sister, Sandra Beuttel (Lowell) of Godfrey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Sheldon and Ronald Trout, and a sister, Karen Mapel. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
