Carole F. Moore

Carole F. Moore, AKA “Mom,” “Ma,” “Moo,” “Nana”, age 77 of Alton Illinois passed away of complications from a recent surgery, with her children at her side on February 28, 2017. She was born in Chicago on March 26, 1939, to Harry and Florence (Nicholas) Jacobson. She grew up in Alton, met her husband Bruce Moore at Ohio State University, married on June 15, 1963 in Alton, and spent many years working as a nurse and real estate agent in Springfield, West Chicago and Edwardsville IL while raising three children. Later she earned a Masters Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and became a social worker. In the 1990s she moved to Florida where she eventually retired and realized her lifelong dream of having a swimming pool. Mom was loved by many and brought a smile to our faces with her personality, pluck, love and affection. Making Christmases special, remembering birthdays, sending cards, caring about and asking about people’s lives were among her specialties. She was a devotee of eating out, loved cake and ice cream, enjoyed playing piano, breeding labradors, camping, going to the beach, badminton, home decorating and sewing in her younger years, and RV travel out west more recently, with a fondness for native American art. Charitable organizations will miss her almost as much as we do; she was a generous donor who gave regularly throughout her life. Carole is survived by children, Steven Moore of Madison WI, Kimberly Moore of Bethalto and Kristin Moore of Godfrey IL. Grandchildren, Alyssa, Kristena and Lilly Moore, and one brother, Lee Jacobson of Fort Collins, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce A. Moore. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey with Reverend Jerry MeCaskey to officiate.
